Glass Options
JJJ Specialty Company offers a selection of high-quality glass options designed to enhance the performance, aesthetics, and functionality of their architectural shape windows and skylights.Glass Options
JJJ Specialty Company provides several distinct glass types to meet various project requirements:- Clear Glass: This standard offering provides unobstructed views and allows maximum natural light transmission.
- Tempered Glass: For enhanced safety and durability, tempered glass is available. It is four to five times stronger than regular glass and designed to break into small, blunt pieces when fractured, significantly reducing the risk of injury. This is often a requirement for safety glazing applications.
- Laminated Glass: This construction consists of two or more panes of glass bonded together with an interlayer, typically polyvinyl butyral (PVB). Laminated glass offers several benefits, including increased security, sound insulation, and UV protection. In the event of breakage, the glass fragments adhere to the interlayer, preventing them from scattering.
- Insulated Glass Units (IGUs): These units are comprised of two or more panes of glass separated by a spacer and sealed to create a hermetically sealed chamber. This chamber can be filled with air or an inert gas, such as argon, to improve thermal performance. IGUs are crucial for reducing heat transfer, leading to energy savings and improved indoor comfort.
- Low-E (Low-Emissivity) Glass: Low-E coatings are microscopically thin, transparent metallic coatings applied to glass surfaces. These coatings are designed to reflect infrared light (heat), thereby reducing heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter. This significantly enhances the energy efficiency of the window or skylight.
- Tinted Glass: Available in various shades, tinted glass reduces solar heat gain and glare by absorbing and reflecting solar radiation. This can help to control interior temperatures and improve occupant comfort, especially in sun-drenched environments.
- Obscure/Patterned Glass: For applications requiring privacy or decorative effects, obscure or patterned glass options are available. These glasses diffuse light and obscure vision while still allowing light to pass through.
